Safety In Outpatient Facilities-Inspection by AAAASF

By |February 7th, 2017|Uncategorized|

https://www.plasticsurgery.org/patient-safety?sub=Accredited+Facilities

You have decided to have cosmetic surgery and you are scheduled for surgery. If this surgery to be performed in the hospital you probably do not think twice about the safety of the facility. Chances are you are paying more than if the surgeon does the same procedure in their private accredited outpatient surgical suite. Make sure it has met the same standards as that hospital you trust.

Dr. Siegel’s private outpatient surgery has been certified by AAAASF for 28 years. He is also an inspector for this organization for 20 years, which allows him to see other facilities and incorporate the latest technology in his own facility. Interacting with other plastic surgeons by inspecting other facilities has been both informative and rewarding for Dr. Siegel […]

Are Breast Implants toxic?

By |March 22nd, 2016|Uncategorized|

The following link raises the same questions many women who are considering breast implants all have. It states that leading hospitals and Plastic surgeons are using breast implants and the FDA has allowed them back on the market since 2006. Good information to have if you have breast implants or are considering them. Research continues today with every implanted device required to be registered and tracked for any complications.

Four types of men seeking cosmetic procedures

By |November 12th, 2015|Combining Procedures, Eye lid surgery, Facial Procdures, Fat Grafting/transfer, Liposuction, Nose Job-Rhinoplasty, Tummy Tuck|

The number of male cosmetic procedures has increased 23 percent according to the 2014 Annual Procedural statistics from ASPS. They have put men into four categories of types who seek cosmetic enhancement.

Corporate CEO: He is interested in looking as young as he works and feels. He may be at the top of his game, but he’s facing tough, new competition from men who are 20-30 years younger. He is concerned with his neck, eyes and the battle of the bulge.

Athletic Dad: He spends more time with his wife, kids, and his job than at the gym. He is concerned with his gut, neck and eyes. This includes liposuction of the abs and love handles, liposuction under the neck, and eye lid surgery to open up […]

Consumers, Be Cautious

By |October 22nd, 2015|Uncategorized|

Some may wonder why Physician dispensed skin care costs more than mass retail skin care, considering that many of those cosmetic skin care brands make incredible claims. Products regulated as cosmetic (and not drugs) make claims that haven’t been scientifically supported or approved by the FDA, so it is often up to the consumers to protect themselves. Faced with the possibility that some cosmetic skin products might be making claims that haven’t been evaluated by the FDA, how can a consumer choose the right cream or lotion? Consider a quote from the FDA; “If a product seems too good to be true, it probably is.”

My 6 week check up-Getting My Body Back

By |August 7th, 2015|Uncategorized|

My 6 week check was today and I am excited to be able to work out again. I have been walking but ready to get back to my vigorous routine. I have been wearing my garments faithfully and it actually feels better to keep it on at all times. The support really has helped with swelling and added comfort when moving. I recently have been taking it off at night, but I have several types and the one for sleeping is much softer and less support. I am feeling really good and I love the way I look now. My scars are healing well and the swelling is almost gone. My stomach profile if straight and flat. I love it. I have cleavage now, and […]

One week post-op-Getting my body back

By |May 6th, 2015|Breast Lift-Mastopexy, Combining Procedures, Liposuction, Tummy Tuck|

It’s been one week now since my surgery. I am walking around crouched over like a little old lady, but I’m getting my walking in like a good patient. I went to Dr. Siegels office and had my stitches out and finally had the drains removed. That is a big relief. Those bags, although necessary for drainage were on my last nerve. They were kind of nasty to me since I’m weak when it comes to blood. I could never be a nurse. I am starting to feel like a new me. I can see Dr. Siegels handwork without all the stitches, extra bandages and tubes. It feels really weird without my binder on but I am able to see my profile now. I […]

Lifestyle lift shuts it’s doors

By |April 21st, 2015|Facial Procdures|

In early March the nationwide chain Lifestyle Lift shut it’s doors. Last week the Wall Street Journal examined this 14 year old company and found that the company faultered under expensive advertising campaigns. The typical cost of these procedures ranged from $6,500 to $9,000 payable upfront and done under local anesthesia. Most women were not typical candidates for a facelift. The doctors that were doing these lifts have banded together to help patients know where to go for follow up care or with questions.

But the real question remains. What was the advantage of this procedure over the traditional facelift, and why was only local anesthesia used. Techniques change over the years and as a board certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Fred Siegel regularly attends […]

Getting my body back-The first days of recovery

By |April 10th, 2015|Breast Lift-Mastopexy, Combining Procedures, Liposuction, Tummy Tuck, Uncategorized|

I slept fairly well the first night which surprised me. I guess with the anesthesia, pain medication and the toll the surgery took on my body I was tired. I did get up three times to the bathroom as I am back to my water bottle and consuming lots of fluid. But that is what Dr. Siegel instructed me to do, so I am trying to be a good patient. Laying in bed for extended periods of time is not good for anyone, but with my increased risk of DVT’s I want to be up every few hours anyway. I took my pain medication on a schedule so I was never letting the pain get too bad. I was not pain free by any means, […]

Getting my body back-One patients experience-Going home

By |April 1st, 2015|Breast Lift-Mastopexy, Combining Procedures, Liposuction, Tummy Tuck|

Later that day, at home in my comfy recliner with pillows and a blanket, I drifted in and out of sleep. I was still thirsty and made the mistake of drinking a whole large glass of water all at once. The next thing I knew I was nauseated. A word to the wise, don’t drink a lot of water too fast after anesthesia. Good thing it didn’t last too long. I learned right then to follow my written instructions, which said, sips of water to see how your stomach tolerates it. After a few crackers I started to feel better. Later that night Dr. Siegel called to check on my recovery and to see if I had any questions. He reminded me of the key […]

Getting my body back-One patients experience-Surgery is today.

By |March 27th, 2015|Breast Lift-Mastopexy, Combining Procedures, Liposuction, Tummy Tuck|

One Patients experience-Surgery is today. Today is the big day! I woke up excited and feeling relieved. I showered and scrubbed with the antibacterial soap as I was instructed. I made sure to dress in comfy clothes that buttoned up the front. I was told to wear my pajamas or whatever I was going to be comfortable in for the next 24 hours. Check, check and check. If only I could have some water, but that is a big No-No. That is really hard for me as I drink a lot of water all day long. On my way to the office for surgery I felt like I was forgetting something. It was my water bottle which is part of my must haves as […]
