Armlift (Brachioplasty)

Upper arm lift can help patients that have lost the elasticity in their upper arm skin due to aging or from large weight loss. The skin from the elbow to the axilla (often referred to as Bat wings) can be excised and the profile of the upper arm tailored for a thinner contoured appearance. The compromise for losing the hanging skin is an incision that is placed under the armpit on the inside of the arm to just short of the elbow, or tailored to meet the needs of your excess skin. This incision is hidden when the arm is at rest by the side, but may be visible when the arm is extended, raised or turned.

This procedure can be performed as an outpatient in Dr. Siegel’s private accredited operating suite. The procedure takes about 2 hours and someone must drive you home and care for you after surgery. Dr. Siegel uses ace wraps or compressive sleeves to help reduce swelling. Women with long hair may require assistance immediately post op with brushing and styling as overhead movement with your arms is limited. The recovery time is usually 2 weeks for full arm motion. Swelling gradually subsides and takes several months to fully appreciate the final results.

Dr. Siegel has a fully accredited operating suite right in his Chesapeake office that is both private and easy to schedule your procedure quickly. Patients from all the neighboring cities of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and all of Hampton Roads have used this safe convenient facility.
